For the followers and bloggers who have been so generous with their Visits, Likes and Comments, I’m sending some sunshine your way. Just a few photos I shot on a September Day here in South County. Thanks to all. You are truly appreciated.
I love sunflowers, and planted some seeds in my garden. But when I looked sunflowers up in my gardening book, it said they were “gross feeders”! I wondered if I should buy them some little bibs so their eating habits didn’t make them look too messy.
:0) :0) :0) (I do this with key board symbols and it magically changes the symbols to emojis! That’s all I know right now. Get back to you later after I take an emoji class.
Osyth, last night, I read that post about your young friend who died and knew I had to send you flowers.I am still catching up with your posts, so my forgive my late condolences. I am glad they made you feel happy. Clare
Oh sweet Clare – nothing to forgive! The flowers were a beautiful reminder of sunshine, of joy, of life which is what we have and what we must relish, protect and cherish. Nine years on and the scars have reshaped us and turned us into better versions of what we were – no sad endings just gratitude for the lovely people we find along the way š
Osyth, ZuZu would definitely concur with you, “No sad endings”. Late last night I visited Russia with you and 2Brain (I like him). Such a marvelous trip and an insightful, personal perspective on the people you found along the way. Thank you for a view into a country I hope to visit myself some day with my own dear 2Brain. Clare
I’m so glad you enjoyed the Russian odyssey. It was a wonderful experience and we hope to be back again soon. I’m sure you would get along with Two Brains and he with you – he is a scientist who really appreciates creativity and the written word. Get your Two Brained one to take you to Russia – St Petersburg is worth the trip all on its own. I will make time to read more on your blog this weekend. The Bean and I have been our own version of too busy for anything peaceful this week š
Russ, I am truly sorry. You must be having a difficult time right now. I’ll be thinking of you and hoping that the memories of your dear friend are cherished ones to help you with this loss. Your friend, Clare
Yvette, you should have seen me running around that field – surrounded by oranges, yellows, greens, bees buzzing away, and the clouds were magnificent that day. I felt like a kid!
Sunflowers are Charley’s favorite, too. But we can’t get them to flower in our yard because the woodchuck eats them for his breakfast. Have a lovely day, Lydia. Clare
I suppose at lest the woodchuck is appreciating them too! I haven’t tried growing them here, but I think the soil wouldn’t be good enough. Perhaps I’ll have to give it a try next year though and see! I hope you’re having a lovely day as well, Clare. š
Gail, I know how you love viewing the seasons on your bike. I hope this passing view of sunflowers in a South County field reminded you of other lovely fields you’ve gone by on your journeys.
It does Clare. Earlier in the year I had a wonderful ride with my brother through the sugarcane fields where we grew up. There was something quite special for us both in returning to ride together amongst the long straight roads edged with fields of tall sugar cane. Here it is: http://abike4allseasons.com/2015/03/12/cycling-through-the-canefields/
As I said in the comment under this post, thank you for sharing this link, the ride, and the lovely thoughts of you and your brother sharing a gorgeous day.
I’ll bet there are loads of sunflowers in your yard! I’m glad I put a smile on your face so early this morning. Have a nice day and a great weekend. Clare
Beautiful. Sunflowers are wonderful plants.
